Tuesday Recap

US player Venus Williams celebrates beating Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova during their women's singles quarter-final match on the ninth day of the 2016 Wimbledon Championships at The All England Lawn Tennis Club in Wimbledon, southwest London, on July 5

The Williams sisters rolled back the years to set up a potential family final at Wimbledon, as both put their opponents to the sword with consummate ease.

Venus looked like the athlete from a decade ago, showing off her mobility and power as she beat Shvedova on Court No. 1.

Now the oldest woman in the top 200 of the game, Venus was composed and assured as she dismantled the Moscow-born talent.

Shvedova had beaten a string of top names to make her way to the latter rounds, but the experience of Venus was too much for her on Tuesday afternoon.

The Kazakhstan ace stuck close to the American in the opening set, but Venus edged past her during an hourlong set. The No. 8 seed was ruthless in the final set, dropping only two games as she claimed the victory.

Sister Serena appeared to have put her French Open disappointments behind her after being defeated in straight sets in the final at Roland Garros.

The top seed was in maximum gear against Pavlyuchenkova. She served 11 aces as she powered over the finish line, according to FlashScores.co.uk.

Wilson Tennis highlighted the feat of both sisters:

LONDON, ENGLAND - JULY 05: Angelique Kerber of Germany in action during her victory over Simona Halep of Romania in their Ladies Singles Quarter-Final match on day eight of the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croque

The threat of Kerber was clear and present as she dumped talented Halep out of the tournament, and the Aussie Open champion looks a dangerous entity on grass.

Like the Williams sisters, the German won her match in straight sets, reducing Halep's best game to dust as she claimed seven of 11 break points, per FlashScores.

Berdych wrapped up his protracted round-of-16 tie against Vesely from Monday night, but his Czech Republic compatriot gave everything to trip up the No. 10 seed.

The match lasted five sets after Berdych failed to take match point on Monday evening, setting up a final-set shootout.

An all-Williams final is on the cards, but Venus will have to play extraordinary tennis to force her way past Kerber.

The German is in prolific form and looks like Serena's biggest threat to claim the Wimbledon crown.

Serena could have struggled after her disappointments in France, but she appeared as supreme as ever as she steamrolled past a much-improved opponent.
