The Wyatt Family's Best Booking Options at WWE Battleground 2016

Sebastian MaldonadoJun 28, 2016

The Wyatt Family has returned to instill its will on the WWE Universe once more.

Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman made their comebacks on the June 20 episode of Monday Night Raw. The team awaited its challenge, with Wyatt enthralling fans in Phoenix.

What happened next was something no one could have predicted.

The New Day, the reigning WWE tag team champions, interrupted Bray Wyatt’s speech, making a mockery of him and his beliefs.

Wyatt was amused and gave a stern warning to the champs while laughing maniacally.

The New Day continued its verbal assault by mocking The Wyatt Family further. The trio insulted the Wyatts on the June 27 episode of Raw by dressing up as them and mocking their style. The Wyatt Family countered and planted some doubt in the trio of Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods.

Though the Wyatts had the last word, the path became clear. These two factions are set on a collision course.

Despite the random turn of events, this potential clash couldn’t have been set any better. The Wyatt Family and The New Day are the most entertaining factions in WWE today. Having them match wits and blows would be engaging for the WWE landscape.

With that being said, let’s reveal the best booking options for The Wyatt Family at WWE Battleground 2016.

For starters, ring rust shouldn’t be a problem for this group. Battleground takes place on July 24 in Washington, D.C. The Wyatt Family will have four weeks to shake off any rust. The only concern for the Wyatts would be their ring work.

Wyatt is the only well-qualified performer of the three. He’s waged wars with Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and the current WWE world heavyweight champion, Dean Ambrose. Wyatt is more than prepared to stand his ground against all enemies.

The remaining two are the question marks of the group. Rowan and Strowman aren’t known for being ring-savvy. In fact, Strowman is still learning the ropes when it comes to telling an effective story.

Rowan has the experience when he’s in a group. He and his former tag team partner, Luke Harper, were a formidable force when chasing after tag team gold. Although they failed in claiming those titles, they made their names known.

Speaking of Harper, he’s still recovering from knee surgery in March, which is a shame considering he’s arguably the best worker in The Wyatt Family’s stable. The former intercontinental champion is the workhorse of the group with his size and speed, and his presence is sorely missed in the ring.

This leaves us with Wyatt, Rowan and Strowman. These three may not be quick as a whole, but they are a strong group when it comes to controlling the pace of their matches. It’s a perfect contrast to The New Day, whose skill set is focused more on speed than brute force.

That’s what we could have with this battle. It’s the old fable of the unstoppable force meeting the immovable object. The charismatic champions, The New Day, would collide with the brutal techniques of The Wyatt Family like water and oil. In other words, it’s a foul matchup.

Let’s not forget how each faction has done when standing against other wrestling stables. The New Day’s most notable war saw it lose to The League of Nations at WrestleMania 32. In comparison, The Wyatt Family dethroned The Shield at Elimination Chamber 2014.

The Wyatt Family has the experience and strength to go toe-to-toe against The New Day. Battleground is the perfect stage for them to wage war on each other.

However, it should not be for just the tag team titles. The Wyatt Family does better as a force of nature, wreaking havoc on whoever it sets its sights on. Picturing the Wyatts as champions, especially at The New Day’s expense, wouldn’t bode well for the tag team division.

The New Day is all about tag team gold. Its countless enemies, including The Club, The Vaudevillains and Enzo Amore and Big Cass, also want to become champions. That has never fit in The Wyatt Family’s M.O.

The Wyatt Family is more concerned with causing chaos in WWE. Being tag team champions would ruin its purpose on the roster. Its job is to become a force of nature that should win against The New Day at Battleground, if properly booked.

If The Wyatt Family squares off against The New Day at Battleground, expect fireworks to go off after Independence Day. It all depends on whether WWE Creative allows these two factions to do battle on July 24.
