Martinez on Bench vs. White Sox
Wednesday, Aug. 3
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus told reporters Martinez won't start Wednesday but is available to pinch hit, after he played a doubleheader with Triple-A Toledo on Tuesday.
Martinez a Key Contributor to Tigers Offense
When healthy, Martinez has remained a rock-solid power bat who has helped ignite the team's offense. To date, Martinez has batted .286 with 12 home runs and 39 RBI while recording an on-base percentage of .358 in 65 games this season.
Those numbers have come on the heels of Martinez's career year. Over the course of a healthy 2015 campaign that saw him appear in 158 games, the six-year veteran tallied 38 home runs and 102 RBI en route to earning a Silver Slugger Award.
