After the match, Natalya blindsided Lynch and proceeded to pepper her with multiple punches. With Lynch lying on the mat in pain, Natalya causally walked off, as WWE Universe captured:
WWE Hall of Fame tweeted his thoughts on the match:
After retaining her title against Nattie at Extreme Rules thanks to a helping hand from Dana, Charlotte sought to embarrass The Queen of Harts even more.
Becky evened the odds, though, as The Irish Lass Kicker rushed to Natalya's defense when Charlotte and Dana attempted to decimate the Canadian Superstar following a match.
Rather than Charlotte defending her title at Money in the Bank, it led to a tag team affair between the main roster's top two female pairings. During the buildup toward the match, there was no shortage of bad blood between the two sides and even among partners.
After everything Charlotte had put her through, even the mild-mannered Nattie engaged in some trash talk, per WWE Universe:
Although Charlotte and Dana should have been the stronger team since they willingly came together at Extreme Rules, they had some chemistry issues on the go-home episode of Raw.
Dana tossed Charlotte back into the ring during her match against Paige, thinking that she was helping the champ, but it instead it led to The Nature Girl taking the pinfall loss and entering Money in the Bank on a low note.
Following that misstep, Charlotte scolded Dana and made it clear that similar incidents would not be tolerated in the future, per WWE:
Nattie and Becky seemingly had the advantage ahead of Money in the Bank with the relationship between Charlotte and Dana hitting a rough patch, but the resourceful heel combo had pulled the wool over their opponents' eyes prior to the pay-per-view.
Even though there were plenty of questions regarding whether Charlotte and Dana would be able to coexist, they managed to work together long enough to vanquish a pair of difficult foes.
Sunday's result set the stage for what promises to be an intriguing case of jockeying for position to earn a shot at the WWE Women's Championship at Battleground.
Both Nattie and Becky may have taken themselves out of contention by losing the bout, while Dana could potentially factor in thanks to her strong record and recent issues with Charlotte.
Other contenders such as Sasha Banks and NXT's Bayley continue to wait in the wings as well, and after a strong effort from all four competitors at Money in the Bank, it is clear that the pieces are in place for a highly competitive and entertaining women's division moving forward.
