On one hand, it's always somewhat underwhelming when the WWE Women's Championship or any other major title isn't defended on a PPV. Money in the Bank is also shaping up to be among the company's most anticipated events of the year. Seth Rollins is taking on Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, while A.J. Styles and John Cena are wrestling for the first time ever. There's also the Money in the Bank ladder match.
On the other hand, having a women's division tag match makes sense if Sasha "The Boss" Banks vs. Charlotte is a realistic possibility for SummerSlam.
In an interview with the Sun Herald's Jeff Clark, The Boss said she has received medical clearance to return to the ring after suffering a concussion last month: "The cool part about WWE is you never know what's going to happen. It was a freak accident with the referee and I'm better and I've received the all-clear and I'm ready to go."
Sunday's tag match will allow Charlotte and Dana to continue building themselves up as a formidable force after they beat up Natalya and Becky last week on Raw:
Charlotte and Dana vs. Becky and Natalya will advance the ongoing feud in the women's division while potentially laying the groundwork for SummerSlam, whether the end game is Charlotte vs. Sasha, Charlotte vs. Becky or another match.
