AEGON Championships 2016: Monday Tennis Scores, Results, Updated Schedule
World No. 10 Richard Gasquet was downed 7-6 (2), 6-2 by the United States' Steve Johnson in the first round of the 2016 AEGON Championships on a rain-interrupted Monday at the Queen's Club in London, England.
The opening first-round clash of the tournament was stopped several times due to the poor weather in the English capital, meaning the 90-minute match between Gasquet and Johnson eventually finished over seven hours after its scheduled start time.
As a result, it was the only first-round match played on Monday, but it was an entertaining encounter, as Johnson rallied from 4-0 down in the opener to eventually come through in straight sets.
Here's a look at Monday's results in full:
| Round | Result | Score |
| First Round | Steve Johnson bt. (4) Richard Gasquet | 7-6 (2), 6-2 |
| Qualifying | Vasek Pospisil bt. Tobias Kamke | 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 |
| Qualifying | Kevin Anderson vs. Jiri Vesely | 7-6 (2), 7-6 (5) |

Monday Recap
With ominous cloud around, it always looked set to be a long and intermittent day's play at Queen's and so it proved with the start being delayed due to rain.
When the players did finally emerge, they only managed two games, as Gasquet took a 2-0 lead in the opening set.
BBC Tennis provided video of a familiar sight in the English summer as umbrellas were put into action at Queen's:
Gasquet, a two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist, looked in good shape early on the grass, and he moved into a 4-0 lead upon resumption before faltering to hand Johnson, 26, his first game of the match with an error-strewn fifth game.
That allowed Johnson a sniff of a comeback, and he got himself back in the match as he closed to 4-3, only to face a set point at 5-4 down.
However, he crucially stayed alive and drew level at 5-5 before forcing an unlikely tiebreak, which he duly took 7-2.
Gasquet, 29, was unsurprisingly furious, but he could not force his way back into the match, as he dropped 5-1 behind in the second set, with his famously stunning backhand well neutered by Johnson.
The Frenchman stopped the rot eventually but could do nothing to prevent Johnson from serving out the match for arguably the biggest win of his career, per ATP Media Info:
He will now face either Adrian Mannarino or Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the second round.
