Murray Fighting the Odds in Wawrinka Showdown

Two of the tournament's top contenders will duel for the right to a final berth on Friday as Wawrinka seeks to prolong his title defence while Murray goes in search of his debut in a French Open finale.
The pair have met 15 times on the ATP World Tour, per the competition's official website. ESPN Tennis attested to the Swiss having taken the upper hand in their most recent meetings:
"Murray plays defending champ Wawrinka in semifinal. Murray leads head-to-head 8-7. Wawrinka has won last three and all three on clay.

Murray can take heart in knowing his form on clay has seen major improvements so far this season, and his comeback victory over Richard Gasquet in the quarters was evidence of his newly discovered strengths.
However, the defending French Open champion is in good form, too, and after throttling Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2, 6-1, 7-6 (7) on Wednesday, Wawrinka appeared pleased with his game:
Murray has never made the deciding match at Roland Garros, but neither had Wawrinka en route to upsetting world No. 1 Djokovic over four sets last year.
The Scot's win over Gasquet on Wednesday included a 6-0 drubbing in the third set, as shown by Eurosport UK:
Wawrinka last defeated Murray 7-6 (4), 6-4 at last year's ATP World Tour Finals, so he could perhaps be a slight favourite ahead of what is sure to be an exciting encounter.
