Rain once again disturbed events at the 2016 French Open, with rain delaying and eventually suspending play at Roland Garros on Tuesday, per BBC Sport's Russell Fuller.

It means Novak Djokovic will have to wait before attempting to reach the quarter-finals. But he isn't the only marquee member of the men's bracket having to bide his time.

No. 2 seed Andy Murray and reigning champion Stan Wawrinka have seen their quarter-final matches moved to Wednesday.

The weather meant not many matches were played. Yet those that went ahead produced a pair of notable upsets in the women's bracket.

Here are the results from the games that survived the weather on Tuesday:

Review

The men's bracket was brought to a complete standstill when rain interrupted play for a second time on the day. It's a delay that's caused havoc with the schedule, creating a packed program for Murray and Co., according to Ben Rothenberg of the New York Times:

Things are sure to be arduous for Djokovic, who hasn't even completed his fourth-round tie with Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut yet. As things stand, the world No. 1 is 4-1 up in the third set with the match tied at one set apiece.

Things have got this far after Agut surprised Djokovic by routinely breaking serve to take the first set 6-3. As ATP Media Info pointed out, dropping the first set isn't something Djokovic falls victim to very often:

Still, since his recovery, the Serb now looks well-placed to make light work of Agut when play is scheduled to resume Wednesday morning.

But no such luxury belongs to Radwanska after losing to 102-ranked Pironkova. The latter entered the day already a set down but soon proceeded to win 10 games in a row to set up a decisive, winning position.

For her part, Radwanska bemoaned the conditions:

Simona Halep was left to do the same after being upset by Samantha Stosur. In fairness, WTA Insider Courtney Nguyen described how the weather prevented Halep from leaning on a winning strategy:

But a look at Stosur's recent near misses shows she hasn't been far away from a big win, per WTA Insider:

Stosur and Pironkova don't have long to wait before returning to action, as the delays have created another fraught schedule, according to Fuller:

Wednesday will be all about whose game has been disrupted most by the stop-start schedule. The rain delays are sure to have caused a loss of focus among some, perhaps leading to a few more upsets at Roland Garros.
