DeAndre Hopkins, Adidas Agree to Contract: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Houston Texans star receiver DeAndre Hopkins signed an agreement Tuesday to partner with Adidas and be the headlining promoter of the sportswear company's football Adizero franchise.
Matt Young of the Houston Chronicle reported the news of the multiyear contract and featured comments from Hopkins on the high-profile endorsement:
"Adidas has built a ton of energy with their combination of innovation and style and I wanted to partner with them to help build on this momentum. I felt this was the perfect fit for me because Adidas is already known for speed and I am excited about the potential to get involved with their work in fashion and culture - such as helping to bring a 'cleathead' culture to life.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Hopkins is coming off a monster 2015 campaign in which he ranked third in the NFL in receptions with 111 and third in receiving yards with 1,521 to go with 11 touchdowns.
The 23-year-old sent out a tweet to express his excitement about spearheading a key part of adidas' football branch:
The company's head of U.S. Team Sports, Jeff McGillis, said, per Young, "DeAndre's style and personality, combined with his speed and tenacity on the field, are a natural extension of Adidas Football. ... DeAndre is [a] game-changer on and off the field, and we are excited to welcome him to the brand."
McGillis' comments were reflected in a tweet by Adidas Football US:
According to Young, Hopkins will work with Adidas to develop cleats and accessories for the future. He will also be heavily featured in marketing campaigns, including with Adidas Originals beginning in the summer and in cross-platform initiatives.
Other notable stars under the Adidas brand are Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Washington cornerback Josh Norman and reigning Super Bowl MVP Von Miller of the Denver Broncos.
Even with a woeful QB situation in Houston last season, Hopkins was able to shine among the best at his position in all of football.
The Texans acquired a probable upgrade in Brock Osweiler under center this offseason, so having a superior signal-caller and increased exposure ought to only help Hopkins continue his promising career trajectory. It also stands to benefit Adidas that Hopkins has a swagger to his game and an evident passion for fashion.
