Cubs P Jon Lester Throws Glove to 1st Base for Out After Baseball Gets Stuck
It's never easy for Chicago Cubs southpaw Jon Lester when it comes to throwing to first base.
Over the past two seasons or so, a lot has been made of Lester's struggles on throwing to the bag. It appears as though he has a case of the and avoids throwing to first at all costs.
During Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Park, Lester found himself having to get creative to record an out at first—not because he was afraid to throw there, but because his equipment gave him problems.

Leading off the bottom of the second, Pirates catcher Francisco hit a bouncer back to the mound. Lester easily fielded the but couldn't get the ball out of the glove. Fortunately for the Cubs, the veteran left-hander didn't panic. He just found a way to make the play.
Lester tossed his glove to Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo—who decided to ditch his own mitt to catch the pitcher's—for the out.
Oddly enough, this wasn't the first time Lester and Rizzo have teamed up for a play like this. The same thing happened last year, so by now, the two just know what to do when the baseball gets stuck in the glove.
Lester got through the second inning without any damage, and he picked up the win in the 6-2 Cubs victory.
