Kalan Reed to Titans: Twitter Reacts to 2016 NFL Draft's Mr. Irrelevant

Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles cornerback Kalan Reed received the honor of being named Mr. Irrelevant as the last player selected in the seventh round of the 2016 NFL draft. The Tennessee Titans used the 253rd overall pick on the defensive back Saturday.

While some think it's a dubious title, there are some perks to being picked last. Every year, Mr. Irrelevant is flown out to Newport Beach, California. He then has a parade thrown in his honor and receives the Lowsman Trophy, the opposite of the Heisman Trophy, per Jeff Caplan of the Star-Telegram. 

The Titans professed their love for Reed on Twitter:

The Repository's Mike Popovich, on the other hand, was jealous:

While Mr. Irrelevant usually doesn't amount to much in the NFL, the general consensus is that Reed could change that trend:

Regardless of where he was selected, Reed was thrilled to hear his name called, per John Glennon of the Tennessean:

In four seasons at Southern Mississippi, Reed recorded 152 total tackles with eight interceptions and 30 pass deflections.

After the fanfare dies down, Reed will have an opportunity to work his way through the ranks of the NFL and become the opposite of his new title.
