Adam WellsApr 30, 2016

"I wanted to get it done early because of my visa," said Boehringer upon signing, per Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The deal is worth $2.49 million over four years, per Tomasson

Per Sports Illustrated's NFL Twitter account, Boehringer is the first European-born player with no college football experience ever drafted by an NFL team.

The explosion on social media after Boehringer's selection was almost as fun to see as the young man getting his moment in the spotlight.

Tomasson noted that Boehringer planned to become a Viking in the event he didn't get selected:

The NFL's official Twitter showed the video of Boehringer receiving the call that every prospect dreams of receiving:

For those out of the loop about Boehringer's pro day, Rotoworld.com's Raymond Summerlin tweeted the reason he got selected instead of having to find a home as an undrafted free agent:

Here's the best of the rest from social media after the Vikings made Boehringer's dream come true:

There are a lot of questions that Boehringer will have to answer. His lack of experience in this country, notably at the college level, will make the transition difficult.

Yet the Vikings didn't overpay to add the German sensation. He's a sixth-round pick who is all projection, but his physical attributes are so unique that his ceiling is not often found at this point in the draft.

Minnesota's front office needed to add playmakers to help quarterback Teddy Bridgewater's development. Boehringer has the potential to become an extraordinary NFL talent, but it will take time for him to hone his craft.
