Islanders vs. Lightning: Game 2 Live Score, Highlights for 2016 NHL Playoffs

Carol SchramApr 30, 2016

The Tampa Bay Lightning evened their second-round playoff series with the New York Islanders at 1-1 on Saturday thanks to a 4-1 win at Amalie Arena.

Tyler Johnson led the way offensively for the Lightning with two goals and one assist, while goaltender Ben Bishop shut the door when the Islanders pressed early, giving his team the chance to take control as the game wore on.

Though the Islanders outshot the Lighting 12-5 in the opening period, they went to their locker room trailing 2-1. New York's lone goal came on the power play, a deflection by Nikolay Kulemin at 15:15, but the Islanders failed to score on two early man-advantage opportunities that were both followed by Lightning goals when the home team got back to full strength.

New York goaltender Thomas Greiss has been solid throughout the playoffs so far, but the goal that proved to be the game-winner on Saturday was the first-career playoff marker by Jonathan Drouin—a soft shot that squeezed between Greiss' pads.

With the series now knotted at 1-1, the scene shifts to Brooklyn. Game 3 will be played on Tuesday at Barclays Center.
