Kenny Clark to Packers: Twitter Reacts as DT Is Selected in 2016 NFL Draft
The Green Bay Packers have been in search of help along the defensive line ever since B.J. Raji announced he wouldn't play in 2016, so they padded their depth by selecting former UCLA Bruins defensive tackle Kenny Clark at No. 27 overall Thursday night:
And while Clark is hardly the flashiest pick, the Packers' selection was met with a chorus of kudos on Twitter.
Rotoworld's Evan Silva noted Clark should mesh well with Green Bay's defensive identity as he adjusts to life in the middle of the Packers front seven:
However, the Los Angeles Times' Sam Farmer noted that, while the pick was a strong one, it was strange to see Clark selected ahead of a more celebrated UCLA teammate:
Here's a look at the best of the remaining social media reactions—including praise from a pair of notable Packers players:
The Packers still have holes to fill at inside linebacker, wide receiver and tight end, but they evidently had Clark circled on their board all along.
"We were very excited to select Kenny Clark," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said, according to the Journal Sentinel's Michael Cohen. "We weren't sure we'd have that opportunity."
A season after ranking 21st in rushing yards allowed per game (120.9), the Packers appear to be determined to corral opposing running backs and boast a more intimidating demeanor up front in 2016.
