It was the culmination of a long day of preparation for Goff, as he explained during The Rich Eisen Show:

Goff is widely expected to be the top overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday evening, though he surely won't fall past the Philadelphia Eagles at No. 2. Both the Rams and Eagles swung major trades to move up to the top two picks, almost assuredly to select one of Goff and North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.

The two quarterbacks briefly found themselves on the red carpet together, via the NFL on Twitter:

"It would be awesome," Goff said when asked about the possibility of being selected No. 1 overall, per Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times. "It would be an honor. ... Something I'd take and really own and make them proud that they made the right decision."

Goff, a three-year starter at California, threw for 12,195 yards, 96 touchdowns and 30 interceptions in his college career, completing 62.3 percent of his passes.
