Darron Lee to Jets: Twitter Reacts as OLB Is Selected in 2016 NFL Draft
After falling one game short of making the playoffs last year, the New York Jets got a head start in 2016 with their selection Thursday of Ohio State outside linebacker Darron Lee with the 20th pick in the first round of the NFL draft.
The Jets went 10-6 last year and face an uncertain future with last year's starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Instead of going in that direction, the Jets decided to make Lee the fifth Ohio State player taken in the first round while adding to New York's already-stout front seven.
One year after grabbing the steal of the draft with defensive end Leonard Williams, Gang Green welcomed Lee into the fold:

CBS Sports projected Lee as the second-best outside linebacker, and it's clear why. He's a fast linebacker with good side-to-side range and plays well in the running game, hence his 146 tackles and 11 sacks in two seasons in Columbus. With the plethora of defensive stars the Jets have up front, Lee could be one of the steals of the draft.
He measures in at 6'1", 232 pounds. That's smaller than new Chicago Bear Leonard Floyd (6'6", 244 lbs), the top outside linebacker taken in the draft. Lee played a lot of 4-3 outside linebacker at Ohio State, so it'll take time for him to adjust to head coach Todd Bowles' 3-4 scheme. But Lee's versatility will make him a great pick for the Jets.
