Blackhawks vs. Blues: Game 7 Live Score, Highlights for 2016 NHL Playoffs

Carol SchramApr 25, 2016

We'll have a new Stanley Cup Champion in 2016.

The St. Louis Blues knocked off the Chicago Blackhawks by a score of 3-2 at Scottrade Center on Monday night, on a winning goal from ex-Hawk Troy Brouwer, winning their first-round series 4-3.

After losing two straight games to allow the Hawks to force Game 7, the Blues came out in full control on Monday, taking an early two-goal lead and hitting every Blackhawks player in sight.

Defensemen David Rundblad and Brent Seabrook looked especially worse for wear, even as Chicago stormed back to tie the game 2-2 by the 3:20 mark of the second period.

From there, the game became a chess match, with Troy Brouwer ultimately making the deciding move.

Breaking free in front of goaltender Corey Crawford, the former Blackhawk, who was part of Chicago's 2010 Cup-winning team, took two swipes at the puck before depositing it into the back of the next for what proved to be the game-winning goal.

The win advances the Blues to the second round for the first time since 2012, and mirrors 2011 for the Blackhawks, when they were eliminated by the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 of Round 1 after winning the Stanley Cup the previous year.

St. Louis will now move on to face the Dallas Stars in second-round Western Conference playoff action.
