Twitter Reacts as Manchester United Reach FA Cup Final with Late Martial Winner
Manchester United will contest the FA Cup final for the first time since 2007 after Anthony Martial's late, late winner earned Louis van Gaal's side a 2-1 win over Everton.
A picturesque Wembley Stadium had earlier welcomed the two teams, both in need of a win to rescue their disappointing seasons:

"PA announcer at Wembley employed the Brian Moore growl when introducing Rrrrrrrrrrrrross Barkley. All for this.

Romelu Lukaku had the game's first chance, but a backtracking Wayne Rooney cleared his effort off the line:
"Fosu-Mensah mistake, Lukaku through, around De Gea, shoots and ... Rooney, of all people, clears off the line
— Oliver Kay (@OliverKayTimes) April 23, 2016"
"Wasn't quite a Babb moment for Rooney - but took a clattering off the post for his troubles there

"OFF THE LINE BY WAYNE ROONEY! ANTHONY MARTIAL IS WEARING GLOVES. GLOVES! IT'S ALL HAPPENING.

The big Belgian had another great chance to put the Toffees ahead soon after, but his first touch let him down, and he failed to beat David De Gea:

"If Lukaku could control the ball, Everton might have scored twice by now ... awful first touch again
— James Ducker (@TelegraphDucker) April 23, 2016"
"Twice Lukaku has had chances - and twice a poor touch has made it harder for himself.
— Phil McNulty (@philmcnulty) April 23, 2016"
"That first touch from Lukaku is the one thing stopping him being the top player he believes he is.
— Royal Blue Mersey (@RBMersey) April 23, 2016"
Gradually, United took control, and they went ahead on 34 minutes through Marouane Fellaini:
"Martial races to the left-hand byline and cuts the ball back for Fellaini, who scores at the near post with his left foot. Been coming.
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
"Of all the people to open the scoring for Manchester United, it had to be Fellaini. Well it didn't, but it was.
— Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) April 23, 2016"
"Who's that Pokemon... https://t.co/hcdhDwc5qp

"Remarkable how much the Everton midfield is standing off their MUFC counterparts. Giving them all the time required to pick passes
— Sam Wallace (@SamWallaceTel) April 23, 2016"
Half-time arrived with United ahead. Everton were struggling, Muhamed Besic finding life particularly tough against Martial:
"Boos from #EFC fans at half-time. Poor from them so far. #MUFC in control at 1-0. Martial v Besic not a fair contest
— Oliver Kay (@OliverKayTimes) April 23, 2016"
"That concludes Mo Besic's first half skills clinic, delivered by Anthony Martial
— Sam Wallace (@SamWallaceTel) April 23, 2016"
"An old Reebok advert went: 'Your parents are here. The game's on TV. And you're marking Ryan Giggs.' Marking Martial the modern equivalent?
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
"Martial is so good from the left, why on earth do people seem so keen to want to switch him inside? It's bizarre.
— John Cross (@johncrossmirror) April 23, 2016"
"— Chu Morah (@ChuBoi) April 23, 2016"
Roberto Martinez's side upped their game in the second half and had the chance to equalise from the spot after Timothy Fosu-Mensah was adjudged to have fouled Ross Barkley:
"Barkley exchanges passes with Lennon and just as he's about to shoot, Fosu-Mensah lunges in. Clumsy and needless.
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
But a brilliant De Gea save denied Lukaku:
"Brilliant, one-handed save by De Gea to repel Lukaku penalty. What a season he's had.
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
"De Gea is bloody brilliant, what a save

"What a save!!!! #FACupSemiFinal
— Edwin van der Sar (@vdsar1970) April 23, 2016"
"De Gea. Best goalkeeper in the Premier League. Arguably only Neuer better in the world.
— Henry Winter (@henrywinter) April 23, 2016"
"You kind of get the feeling the only thing David De Gea couldn't save is Roberto Martinez's job. #FACupSemiFinal pic.twitter.com/jWAJRoEoKz

Everton did find an equaliser on 75 minutes, when Chris Smalling diverted Gerard Deulofeu's cross into his own net:
"1-1. Substitute Deulofeu's whipped cross turned in by Smalling for a calamitous own goal.
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
"Awful moment for Smalling
— John Cross (@johncrossmirror) April 23, 2016"
"Why does Smalling go with his wrong foot? That's the sort of thing I'd do in five-a-side because I can't use my right.
— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) April 23, 2016"
"Chris Smalling, England's first choice centre half ladies and gents..
— Mark Lovell (@LovellLowdown) April 23, 2016"
"Chris Smalling's moment to forget.

Man United have now kept just 1 clean sheet in their last 5 FA Cup matches. pic.twitter.com/CvYPwAzBdW
"Everton's response since half-time has been excellent and that goal had been coming.
— Phil McNulty (@philmcnulty) April 23, 2016"
"Poor by Smalling, but United as a unit look nervous & so easy to beat...huge next few minutes for both teams and the managers..🙈🙈
— Jake Humphrey (@mrjakehumphrey) April 23, 2016"
The goal invigorated Everton, who pushed hard for a second:
"Now De Gea saves from Deulofeu. United really rocking now.

But just as the game looked to be heading for extra time, Martial sprung clear and planted an excellent finish past Joel Robles:
"2-1 United. Martial wins it in added time. Desperately cruel on Everton
— Oliver Holt (@OllieHolt22) April 23, 2016"
"Martial looks for one-two with Herrera, who cocks up attempted back-heel, but Martial collects loose ball and tucks home. Great finish.
— Tom Williams (@tomwfootball) April 23, 2016"
"Wonderfully composed finish in the circumstances.
