Preview

Delhi are winners of two straight after their loss in the opener against Kolkata Knight Riders, and they enter this contest with plenty of momentum after chasing down a lofty target of 192 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Quinton de Kock stole the show with a remarkable 108 from 51 to power the chase, while Karun Nair added an unbeaten 54. It was hardly Delhi’s best performance with the ball, but most teams will give up runs in bunches against Bangalore’s vaunted lineup.
De Kock received praise from just about anyone involved in cricket for his fine knock, including South Africa bowler Morne Morkel:
While the wicketkeeper can’t be expected to produce like that every time, the Daredevils lineup features plenty of talent behind him. Nair and Sanju Samson have both looked solid so far, and JP Duminy and Carlos Brathwaite are expected to hit top form before long.
With the ball, most of the danger comes from veteran Amit Mishra and Mohammed Shami, although the likes of Zaheer Khan and Jayant Yadav also present a threat.

Balance is key for Delhi, and it may be the one thing Mumbai have lacked so far. On paper, the Indians have arguably the deepest lineup in this year’s IPL, and the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jos Buttler, Parthiv Patel, Martin Guptill and Harbhajan Singh would be expected to tear through any group of bowlers.
Instead, Mumbai have lost three of five, in part due to their struggles with the ball. With Lasith Malinga sidelined, Tim Southee and Mitchell McClenaghan have been tasked to lead the group, with mixed results.
Per the team’s official Twitter account, Pollard has urged the players to keep things simple:
Mumbai have the edge in raw talent, but Delhi enter the contest with plenty of momentum. That should be a winning formula against the Indians and their shaky bowling.

Elsewhere, struggling Kings XI travel to Hyderabad to take on Sunrisers, who appear to have turned a corner after losing their first two matches. Two straight wins over Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians has put the team back on track, in large part thanks to the brilliance of David Warner.
As shared by the team’s official Twitter account, his stats are incredible thus far:
Like Kolkata, Sunrisers are built around the strength of their bowling, led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar and youngster Mustafizur Rahman. Warner, Eoin Morgan, Shikhar Dhawan and Moises Henriques are all more than capable with the bat, and if the bowlers do their thing, they will chase down most targets.
Glenn Maxwell and David Miller have both been major disappointments so far, and when they aren’t doing major damage with the bat, Punjab usually lose. It’s never a good thing to be too dependable on a handful of stars, and unfortunately for Kings XI, that’s the predicament the team finds itself in.
