John Cena Injury: WWE Superstar Provides Update on Shoulder Recovery
WWE Superstar John Cena appeared at WrestleMania 32 to help The Rock, but wrestling fans are still waiting for his full-time return from recent shoulder surgery.
Cena underwent surgery in January to repair injuries to his right shoulder at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Center in Birmingham, Alabama, and there have been many proposed timetables for his return to action.

During a promotional tour for Cena's new Fox reality show, American Grit, Ring Rust Radio asked him about his shoulder injury and his current status. The 15-time world champion responded candidly to the inquiry.
"I’m feeling pretty damn good, man," he said. "I’m like a relief pitcher in the bullpen just waiting for that phone call. I’m ready to go, and I’m just waiting for the manager to ring the phone, and I’ll answer it. I’ll go throw on the old Superman outfit and show up where they need me to and do what they need me to do. As far as my condition, that’s where I’m at."
Whether wrestling fans like Cena or not, the current WWE roster is lacking the big-name star power it has possessed over the last several years. While the lack of top names like Cena, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins has allowed the next generation of Superstars to shine, adding Cena to the rotation again will bring more eyes back to the product.
Hardcore fans don’t like Cena because of his wholesome babyface gimmick and the perception that he doesn’t put over younger talents, but his impact on the wrestling business is undeniable. Cena is still the most popular wrestler in WWE and will be an instant boost to the product upon his return.
It’s hard to imagine someone coming back from shoulder surgery only four months after undergoing the procedure, but Cena is a rehabilitation machine. Throughout his career, he has beaten the projected recovery time estimates on multiple injuries to shock the WWE Universe and return ahead of schedule.
Now, Cena looks to be defying the odds once again.
With a plethora of new talents making their main-roster debuts since Cena was put on the shelf, it will be interesting to see who challenges the former world champion when he does make his triumphant return to WWE.
The period between WrestleMania and SummerSlam is notoriously slow for wrestling, but with Raw already adding intrigue with recent call-ups and Shane McMahon running the product, Cena's return should make for an interesting time.
