Andre Johnson Remains Interested in Playing in NFL
Veteran wide receiver Andre Johnson is on the market after being cut by the Indianapolis Colts in March. The 34-year-old—he'll be 35 by the start of the 2016 season—revealed Wednesday to ESPN.com's Tania Ganguli that he wants to play next year.
"I'm just training right now and waiting for an opportunity," Johnson said. "When that comes, I'll take advantage of it."
Johnson was one of the premier wide receivers in the NFL over his first 12 years with the Houston Texans. He was by far the franchise's best receiver, holding top marks with 1,012 receptions, 13,597 yards and 64 touchdowns.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He managed to amass such numbers despite not having an elite quarterback during his entire tenure in Houston. Whether it was David Carr, Matt Schaub or Ryan Fitzpatrick, Johnson was a consistent, big (6'3", 219 lbs), safe target who could make any kind of catch.
The NFL showed just one instance of how he was able to bail out his quarterbacks:
Signing with the Colts before the 2015 season, Johnson had an opportunity to work with an elite quarterback in Andrew Luck. But Luck only managed to play in seven games because of injury, and Johnson put up career lows in a 16-game season with 41 receptions and 503 yards.
He still showed flashes of the receiver who dominated in Houston, though, via the NFL:
Since Johnson's release, there haven't been any reports of a team showing interest.
At his age, the market for him might be slim, but it could expand as the offseason progresses. It will take just one team that needs a set of sure, experienced hands to round out a receiving group for Johnson to get another shot in the NFL.
