Cromartie Interested in Playing for Cowboys
Monday, April 18
"My dream choice? That'd be the Dallas Cowboys," Cromartie revealed to TMZ Sports when asked about his future in the NFL. "That's very high on my list."
Cromartie, 32, played in 15 games for the Jets last season, accumulating 29 tackles and a fumble recovery. In 10 NFL seasons with the Jets, San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals, he's totaled 403 tackles, 31 interceptions, five fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles. He's a four-time Pro Bowler and was a first-team All-NFL selection by the Associated Press in 2007.
But the Jets released him this offseason after head coach Todd Bowles acknowledged that he thought Cromartie "slowed down" in 2015, per Rich Cimini of ESPN.
The corner has continued to work out in an effort to play next season, however. He posted the following video of a workout to Instagram last week:
The Cowboys might be a good fit for Cromartie. While the team re-signed Morris Claiborne and Josh Thomas this offseason—and reportedly has discussed a pay cut for Brandon Carr, per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk—Cromartie could provide solid depth for Dallas if the team feels he hasn't lost a step, as the Jets did.
