Stepping back between the pipes after missing the last two periods of Game 1 with an eye injury, Lundqvist was outstanding in net for the Rangers, providing timely saves as he stopped 29 of 31 shots. After standing tall in Game 1, Penguins' third-string netminder Jeff Zatkoff's NHL playoff record dropped to 1-1. He was beaten four times on 28 shots by the Rangers.
Once again, New York dominated the physical side of the game, outhitting Pittsburgh by a margin of 57-25. Defenseman Kevin Klein led the way with eight hits despite missing seven minutes of game action after a third-period fight with Chris Kunitz.
Forward Evgeni Malkin returned to the lineup for the Penguins after missing more than a month of action, tallying one assist in 19:29 of ice time.
