2016 NFL Draft: Full List of Attendees Announced

Scott PolacekApr 12, 2016

Roosevelt University’s Auditorium Theatre in Chicago will be a star-studded venue on April 28 during the first round of the 2016 NFL draft.

Chase Goodbread of NFL.com shared the list of the 25 draft prospects who will be in attendance for this year’s event. Among those who earned the invite are Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil, Florida State cornerback Jalen Ramsey, California quarterback Jared Goff and North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz.

The first round will take place on April 28, while the second and third rounds will happen on April 29. The draft concludes with Rounds 4 through 7 on April 30.

Here is a list of the prospects who will be in attendance, per Goodbread:

In addition to Tunsil, Ramsey and the highly regarded signal-callers, there will be plenty of Scarlet and Gray present in Chicago as well. Goodbread noted the Ohio State Buckeyes will tie Alabama’s record by sending five prospects to the draft, with defensive end Joey Bosa, running back Ezekiel Elliott, linebacker Darron Lee, offensive tackle Taylor Decker and cornerback Eli Apple set to hit the Windy City.

The Crimson Tide sent five prospects in 2012.

It won’t just be top prospects in attendance during the draft. Goodbread shared the list of 12 college football coaches who will be present, and it reads as a who’s-who list of some of the best leaders in the sport:

While the coaches will be there to support their players as they are called to the stage, it is probably not lost on any of them that this is an opportunity to be seen by recruits across the country as they continue to establish their programs as NFL pipelines.

Perhaps the biggest question with this list is which player will be fortunate enough to hear his name called first by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller had Tunsil as the first pick on his “What Will Happen” mock draft last Friday, although he pegged Ramsey as the first selection in his “What Should Happen” mock.

With an awesome combination of athleticism and instincts, Ramsey may be the most talented player in the draft. What’s more, he is a defensive back, which is all the more important in today’s pass-happy league.

However, the Tennessee Titans own the first pick in this year’s draft, and they just selected former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota in 2015. Protecting Mariota for the foreseeable future is critical for the franchise’s long-term ability to contend for the playoffs, and adding Tunsil to an offensive line that Football Outsiders ranked as the worst group in the league in pass protection last year would help the Titans do just that.

Tunsil will have plenty of company with 24 other draft prospects hitting Chicago alongside him, but he won’t get to hang out with them in the green room for long if he is the first pick in the draft.
