Smylie Kaufman Rewarded with New Nissan After Masters Interview

Laura DeptaApr 12, 2016

Smylie Kaufman entered the final round of the Masters just one stroke behind defending champion Jordan Spieth. Although Sunday didn't go quite as well as he'd hoped (Kaufman finished way down at T29), he didn't go home empty-handed.

During an interview with Jim Nantz before the final round, Kaufman mentioned that he drives a 2008 Nissan Murano.

Nissan found out about it.

In a press release (via Mark Inabinett of AL.com), Nissan North America vice president of marketing communications and media Jeremy Tucker said:

"

No matter who wears the green jacket at the end of the day, Smylie is already a winner in our book. From his hole-in-one in Wednesday's par-3 event to his great round on "moving day," we're impressed by his poise at Augusta and were thrilled to hear of his choice of wheels at home.

"

If Twitter is to be believed, it appears Nissan came through on its promise.

Danny Willett got $1.8 million for his win, but Kaufman got a new car. Not bad for the kid's Masters debut.
