Conte Keen to Reinvest Hazard Money
Monday, April 11
“Chelsea have instructed Europe’s top agents, who specialise in top level transfers, to drum up interest in Hazard," reported Neil Fissler of the Daily Express.
Fissler added that manager Antonio Conte is keen to spend any funds recouped to pursue Juventus stars Paul Pogba and Leonardo Bonucci.
Out-of-Form Hazard a Problem for Chelsea
As Bleacher Report’s Clark Whitney noted here, the statistics do not paint a pretty picture for Hazard this season:
While he’s not the only Chelsea player to have underperformed, the gulf in levels between this term and the previous one is massive for the winger.
In 2014-15, he was a player possessed. Hazard added the attacking guile and incision to a robust side assembled by former manager Jose Mourinho. The title followed for the Blues, as did an influx of individual awards for the player. Many expected the current campaign to be a platform from which Hazard would push on to become one of the world's best.
But it’s been a disastrous term—Hazard has yet to score a Premier League goal this season—and subsequently, speculation about a potential fresh start elsewhere has surfaced.
Should Chelsea sell to Madrid, Conte will be better equipped to bring in the players he wants to begin his Stamford Bridge reign.
