South Carolina Spring Game 2016: Live Score, Top Performers and Analysis

Black 35, Garnet 14. Game Over.

The South Carolina Gamecocks started a new chapter Saturday as took the field for their first spring game under new head coach Will Muschamp on the SEC Network.  

The Black team, which comprised of the first team offense and second team defense, handily defeated the Garnet squad, which was the first team defense and second team offense.

While the first team defense struggled, Saturday saw the emergence of a few potential South Carolina stars on offense.

True freshman Quarterback Brandon McIlwain, an early enrollee, stole the show Saturday. He finished the day with a pair of passing scores, each to fellow freshman Bryan Edwards, and a rushing touchdown. McIlwain showed tremendous poise and dual-threat ability for a kid who should still be in high school.

Receivers Deebo Samuel and Jamari Smith also shined Saturday. Samuel was all over the field and completed a wide receiver pass in the first half. Smith made plays from the slot and finished with a touchdown.

It is still early, but it seems like McIlwain will be the starting quarterback for South Carolina when it opens the 2016 season.
