Fresh from Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw with Liverpool in their Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday, German newspaper Sport BILD (via Who Ate All The Pies) have done some digging and made a fascinating discovery.

Marco Reus played for Dortmund against the Reds this week, but 15 years ago he was representing the Premier League side as a mascot in the 2001 UEFA Cup final.

That match saw Liverpool face Alaves at Dortmund's Westfalenstadion, where Reus was joined by former team-mate Kevin Grosskreutz in wearing the famous red shirt, with the latter tweeting a photo of the pair from that day on Friday.

Grosskreutz has since moved on to Stuttgart, while Reus returned to Dortmund after spells with Rot Weiss Ahlen and Borussia Monchengladbach.
