Nicks Tries Out with Bengals
Tuesday, April 5
The Bengals worked out Nicks on Tuesday, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
The Bengals, who lost wideouts Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu to free agency and signed Brandon LaFell, have also worked out veteran Mike Williams, according to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk.
Nicks, 28, caught just seven passes for 54 yards in six games with the Giants last season.
Nicks looked like an emerging star in 2010-11, when he registered a total of 155 receptions, 2,244 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns over the two seasons. He hasn't registered 1,000 receiving yards or more than four touchdowns in a season since.
He had a fairly disastrous campaign for the Colts in 2014 after signing with the team, catching just 38 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns. In 2015, he signed with the Tennessee Titans but was cut by the team, tried out with several other teams and eventually was signed by the Giants in November 2015.
Nicks' career has been marred by injury issues and a questionable work ethic, so if he does get another shot with a team, he'll need to prove he can again be the player who registered 790 or more receiving yards in his first four seasons.
The talent is there. The question, now, is whether his body can hold up.
