Predictions for Brock Lesnar After Win vs. Dean Ambrose at WWE WrestleMania 32

Erik BeastonApr 4, 2016

Brock Lesnar's total annihilation of Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 32 may have been predictable, but The Beast Incarnate's plans going forward are far from it.

Sunday night, 101,763 fans watched as the former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion tossed The Lunatic Fringe around the squared circle with reckless abandon and introduced him to the unforgiving brutality of Suplex City. Despite the decisive victory, there is a great deal of uncertainty surrounding Lesnar in the immediate aftermath of The Showcase of the Immortals.

At one point, it was a given that he would seamlessly jump into a rivalry with Bray Wyatt. That was his intended WrestleMania program, but plans changed, and that feud was put on the back burner. At Roadblock, Wyatt avoided punishment by sticking Luke Harper on Lesnar, only to watch as he was systematically dismantled.

Despite the continued interactions between The Beast and the enigmatic faction, there was no follow-up Sunday night to suggest that the feud would continue into the summer.

That begs the question: If not The Reaper of Souls, who does Lesnar battle next?

These are just a few options.

The Rock

Despite a suitably epic match in which The Rock passed the proverbial torch to Lesnar at the 2002 SummerSlam pay-per-view, WWE has never attempted a rematch despite having both men back under the same umbrella.

With SummerSlam back in Brooklyn, New York, this year, and that annual August event being treated more and more like the second-most important show on the schedule, what better way to hammer home its significance with a blockbuster of a main event like Rock-Lesnar II?

Of course, that would depend on the availability of The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, who is among the busiest stars in all of entertainment. Still, it is worth exploring that match as credible threats to Lesnar dry up.

Not the most realistic option for Lesnar, but arguably the best.

Chris Jericho

The Ayatollah of Rock and Rolla appears more motivated by his recent heel turn and has never worked Lesnar. Thanks to Chris Jericho's place on Raw and The Beast's status as SmackDown's biggest star during the brief time they were on the same roster, their paths never crossed, which robbed fans of what could have been a damn good match—with some even better storytelling.

Now, with both men back working for Vince McMahon, there is no better time than now to take the delusional villain Jericho, have him complain about the attention given to Lesnar and set up a high-profile match somewhere down the line.

Imagine the promos between Jericho and Lesnar's advocate, Paul Heyman.

The match would probably not meet the quality of a match some 12 years ago would have, but the story alone would make for some damn fine television.

And best of all? The images of Lesnar shutting up the loudmouthed Jericho with a trip to Suplex City.

Roman Reigns

The best and most likely option for Lesnar going forward is another chapter in his feud with Roman Reigns.

There is unfinished business between the two, dating back to last year's WrestleMania 31. They waged war on the grand stage, but no definitive winner was ever crowned, thanks to the late-match cash-in from Seth Rollins.

With Reigns now the face of WWE and its heavyweight champion, writing the next chapter in the rivalry with The Big Dog should be next up on Lesnar's agenda—especially since there are few options credible enough to defeat The Beast.

Reigns is one of the few, and the crowd response would be as entertaining as the match, if not more so, as was the case when Lesnar tossed John Cena around the squared circle at SummerSlam in 2014.
