Kobe Bryant Sets Record for Most NBA Games Played at a Single Venue

Bleacher Report MilestonesApr 4, 2016

Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant played his 596th career regular-season game at Staples Center on Sunday, breaking Hakeem Olajuwon's record for the most NBA games played at one venue, per the Lakers' official Twitter account.

Olajuwon played all but one of his 18 NBA seasons with the Houston Rockets, making 595 appearances at The Summit, which is now the main facility for Lakewood Church.

Bryant turned in a worthy performance in Sunday's record-breaking appearance, putting up 34 points, four rebounds, an assist and three steals over 33 minutes against the rival Boston Celtics.

He only made 11 of his 28 field-goal attempts, four of his 11 three-point attempts and eight of his 10 free throws, but he did avoid turning the ball over for just the 11th time in 60 games this season, per Basketball-Reference.com's play index.

Oddly enough, the Lakers lost each of those 11 games, contributing to their ugly 16-60 record for the year.

All but assured of finishing with the NBA's second-worst record, the 2015-16 Lakers are well on their way to breaking the franchise single-season record of 61 losses, which naturally was established last year.
