WWE WrestleMania 32: Overlooked Stars Who Will Make Big Impact at PPV

Brad JonesMar 25, 2016

WrestleMania is quite rightly known as the Showcase of the Immortals—but it's not always the competitors in the main event that make the biggest impact.

Often, it's further down the card where we see stars of tomorrow go the extra mile, writing their name in the history books at the grandest stage of them all.

Here are the some of the more overlooked stars that are sure to be the center of attention in the wake of WrestleMania 32.

Big E

2016 looks set to a landmark year for Big E. With The New Day slowly transitioning towards a role as fan favorites, E looks to be in a prime position to become the standout singles performer from the faction.

In the 1990s, the Nation of Domination was the backdrop for Rocky Maivia's transformation into The Rock. His latent charisma was there from the beginning, but a strong supporting cast and the feuds the faction became embroiled in helped bring the best of Rocky's abilities to the surface.

Hopefully, we'll see a similar scenario unfold among the ranks of The New Day in the coming months.

That process could be kick-started by a standout match at WrestleMania. The talent on both sides of the showdown between The New Day and The League of Nations is top-tier, and hopefully there's enough time for all parties involved to show off their abilities.

Kalisto

Many fans are pointing to the United States Championship match as the weakest on the current WrestleMania card, but there's a good chance that those naysayers are proven wrong come next weekend.

The dynamic of a nimble luchador fighting off a powerful heavyweight is a tried-and-tested pro wrestling story. Moreover, we've already seen this pairing produce great work between the ropes, like the tight match the pair had in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tournament leading to Survivor Series 2015.

Despite his limitations, Ryback isn't afraid to put in the hard work to improve his abilities, and it's easy to see the fruit of his labours in his recent output. You might not point to him as the best technician on the roster, but he's certainly capable of exerting the effort to put on a memorable WrestleMania encounter.

Meanwhile, Kalisto has the platform to dazzle a record-breaking crowd at the AT&T Stadium. WWE has been trying to replace Rey Mysterio for some years now—a standout performance at WrestleMania could cement the King of Flight in that role.

Kevin Owens

It's easy to forget that this time last year, Kevin Owens was still NXT champion and was yet to debut on the main roster.

Next weekend will mark KO's first appearance at WrestleMania, and it'll come in the form of an Intercontinental Championship defence against six other competitors in a Ladder Match.

We know Owens thrives with the title around his waist, we know what he's capable of with a ladder in play, and we know about his amazing chemistry with challenger Sami Zayn. Everything about this bout seems to suggest that we'll see a standout performance from The Prizefighter.

Few wrestlers can claim to have the sheer drive that Owens displays on a nightly basis. Title reigns and feuds with John Cena aren't just handed out to new signings—KO has demonstrated time and again that when given an opportunity, he'll exploit it to his greatest benefit.

Owens may not be in the main event of WrestleMania 32, but you can bet that he'll wrestle his Intercontinental title defence with the same passion and intensity as if it were closing the show.

Who do you think will stand out from the crowd when WrestleMania hits the state of Texas next weekend? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
