WWE Superstar Power Rankings for Week of March 21
This week's WWE Superstar Power Rankings saw a big shift thanks to some great matches and a big return. Because of the nature of WWE programming, certain people only appear once in a while, so they tend to fluctuate more often.
Roman Reigns returned after a few weeks off to fix a problem with his nose, and he made a huge impact by beating Triple H with everything and anything he could find.
However, the person who made the biggest jump was Dolph Ziggler. Not only did he steal the show with Triple H on Raw, but he had one of the best matches on SmackDown too.
Things are heating up as we inch closer to WrestleMania 32. The card for the April 3 event is already pretty full, but there's still room for one or two more contests to fill things out.
Let's take a look at how the WWE Superstar Power Rankings have changed over the past week.
10. Golden Truth
1 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
After weeks of will-they-won't-they segments involving one of Goldust and R-Truth trying to recruit the other as a tag team partner, we finally got some traction.
Following a match with Bubba Ray Dudley, Goldust was in need of some assistance. R-Truth came out to help, but both men ended up being bailed out by The Usos.
It feels like management is trying to reproduce the magic created between Booker T and Goldust back in the day, and Truth is a competent performer who has made a few different gimmicks work well over the years.
They could end up making a much better team once they are on the same page. The tag team division has some great talent, but two veterans such as Goldust and Truth could add some depth.
9. The Miz
2 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
The Miz may have suffered two losses to Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler this week, but he showed off some of the fire we used to see when he was WWE champion during both contests.
He has been underused for far too long. He is a great heel who can get real heat from the crowd and help the incoming talents from NXT find their place on the roster.
It looks like Kevin Owens could end up defending the Intercontinental Championship against multiple opponents at WrestleManie, and The Miz should be one of those people.
He may never reach the same level he was once at, but there is no denying how useful The Miz can be in building new stars and creating compelling storylines.
8. Sami Zayn
3 of 10Previous Rank: No. 8
Sami Zayn stays even at No. 8 this week. His only appearance came during his match against The Miz on Raw, which Zayn won.
He is still gaining momentum, but it looks like Zayn could be heading toward a showdown with Owens for the Intercontinental Championship.
He vowed to take the title away from the man who took the NXT Championship from him. It's smart for WWE to continue this feud from NXT because these two work so well together after years of traveling from promotion to promotion.
Zayn is the kind of person who could end up filling the void left by Daniel Bryan's retirement. The fans like having an underdog to root for, and he pulled off that role well in NXT.
He is just as gifted as Bryan was in the ring, and he might even be better on the mic. The sky is the limit for Zayn if he is used to his fullest potential.
7. AJ Styles
4 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
AJ Styles jumped back onto the leaderboard this week with a great match against Kevin Owens on SmackDown.
Styles has been put in the ring with some great performers since he debuted back at January's Royal Rumble, and he has made the most of each opportunity.
It was starting to feel like we were never going to see Styles in a WWE ring, but when he finally signed with the company, so many dream matches became possible.
Styles is on a different level to 99 percent of the wrestlers in the world. He combines technical ability, aerial maneuvers and ring psychology to produce some of the best bouts every week.
6. Kevin Owens
5 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
Kevin Owens came roaring back into the top 10 with a win over AJ Styles on SmackDown. He may have had a little help from Chris Jericho, but he still finished off his opponent with his trademark powerbomb.
Owens has become one of the most entertaining and reliable performers on the roster. He knows exactly who his character is supposed to be, and he plays to his strengths to make everything he does worth seeing.
Owens has several people chasing his IC title, and if he ends up defending against multiple opponents, it could be one of the best bouts at WrestleMania.
5 .The New Day
6 of 10Previous Rank: No. 6
The New Day jumped up a spot after two big wins. The first came after Big E and Xavier Woods retained the WWE Tag Team Championships against Alberto Del Rio and Rusev on Monday.
That marked the team's third successful title defense in two weeks, which has helped make the New Day one of the winningest tag teams in the history of the titles.
The second win came on SmackDown in a singles match between King Barrett and Kofi Kingston. The New Day seems to have The League of Nations' number, but that may change at WrestleMania.
The LON will have the advantage in a handicap match featuring every member of both teams. If The New Day finds a way to win, it will help cement the group among the greatest tag teams of all time.
4. Dean Ambrose
7 of 10Previous Rank: No 1
Dean Ambrose fell a bit this week, but it's not because he did a bad job. He was only used for a couple of non-wrestling segments and one short fight, so he didn't have a chance to outwrestle anyone else.
One cool moment from Raw saw Mick Foley present Ambrose with his trademark barbed-wire bat, affectionately known as Barbie.
The symbolic passing of the torch officially makes Ambrose WWE's resident hardcore specialist, but he has been in that role for quite some time.
Ambrose is unlike anyone else on the roster. He is able to modify his style to his opponent to make the best possible match, and he is just beginning to scratch the surface of what he is capable of.
His match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania will be a big test for him. It's the first time Lesnar has feuded with anyone who hasn't been the champion in a long time, which makes the outcome less predictable. Ambrose could easily end up getting the win thanks to the nature of the Street Fight stipulation.
3. Roman Reigns
8 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
After a few weeks off, Roman Reigns returned with a vengeance during Raw. He came down and proceeded to destroy Triple H in the final moments of the show.
The attack caused the champ to have staples put into his head to close a wound. This definitely helps make their feud heading into WrestleMania more interesting.
Reigns is still being booed by a large percentage of the WWE Universe, but moments such as this will help win over some of his critics.
He may never be as popular as WWE would like him to be, but if he can put on a good match with Triple H at WrestleMania, it could turn some haters into fans.
2. Dolph Ziggler
9 of 10Previous Rank: Unranked
Dolph Ziggler had quite the week. He started with a standoff with The Authority and a fun main event match with Triple H on Raw.
He might not have won, but he proved he could hang with one of the greatest performers of all time. His luck turned around when he defeated The Miz on SmackDown.
Ziggler is popular with every kind of fan, but despite the crowd's universal love for him, WWE holds him down in the midcard scene.
His interactions with Triple H may indicate another main event push is forthcoming for The Show Off, so let's hope his post-WrestleMania plans include a run with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
1. Triple H
10 of 10Previous Rank: No. 2
Triple H moved up the list to the top spot after a great match with Ziggler on Raw. However, the real entertainment came after the bout was over.
Reigns returned to attack the man who decimated him a few weeks earlier, and The Game sold the attack like the seasoned veteran he is.
He ended up needing staples to close a wound, adding another scar to his collection of wounds from his many years of bleeding for the sake of entertaining the fans.
It was great to see a rare wrestling appearance from Triple H on Raw. It's amazing how he can take months at a time off and return just as good as when he left.
