Buccaneers Go From Bad, to Worse, to 'Oh-No'...

Tom EdringtonSep 27, 2009

The once proud Pirate ship of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers now looks like a Somali junk.

Oh-no!

Oh-no offense.

Oh-no defense.

Oh-no: Oh and three.

New York Giants: 24 Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Oh.

Oh, as in no points on a very ugly Sunday afternoon in Tampa.

It was a team-effort, a total display of futility, offense, defense, everything.

The overworked defense spent most of the sweltering day on the field.

When the paychecks are passed out at One Buccaneer Place, the offensive players' paychecks should be given to the defense. On this day, no one on that side of the ball did anything to earn a dime.

Raheem Morris' team looked like it hadn't had a single practice this week. It was that bad.

The game was out-of-hand early. It was 14-0, Giants in the first quarter.

It only got worse from there.

If statistics are for losers, there are plenty of statistics for these Buccaneer losers.

The Buccaneer losers managed a whopping 28 yards rushing. They passed for an impressive 58 and a grand total of 86 yards total offense.

Can you say "pathetic?"

Let Raheem smile his way out of this one.

It looked easy for the unbeaten (3-0) Giants all afternoon. They finished with nearly 400 yards of offense, including 226 yards on the ground, which ate up the clock and perhaps held the scoring down for the G-men.

By the fourth quarter, starting quarterback Eli Manning was safely watching from the sidelines.

The Buccaneers eventually put Byron Leftwich there too, but for other reasons. Lefty flat out stunk up the place.

The Buccaneer defense was hung out to dry. It was forced to spend more than 40 of the game's 60 minutes trying to stop Ahmad Bradshaw, who rushed for 104 yards and the beast, Brandon Jacobs, who added 92.

This was a disaster and that's giving the Bucs credit.

They are now 0-3 and things are looking really, really bad.

The ground game yardage has gone from 174 to 57 to Sunday's 28.

Ouch!

And the fans who filled Raymond James had to be wondering why they showed up, why they paid all that money for tickets to a fiasco.

It was that bad.

So where do the Buccaneers go from here?

On the road to play the Redskins, then the Eagles.

Oh no!
