Matt Schaub to Falcons: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
Matt Schaub's NFL career has come full circle. The Atlanta Falcons announced Wednesday they signed the veteran quarterback.
Schaub spent his first three years in the league with Atlanta, where he backed up Michael Vick until his move to the Houston Texans in 2007.
In his prime, Schaub was a productive passer. Between 2009 and 2012, he threw for 4,000-plus yards on three occasions. His time with the Texans ended in ignominy, however, as he set an NFL record for most consecutive games with a pick-sixโa streak that reached four gamesโin 2013.

The problem persisted even after his moves to the Oakland Raiders in 2014 and the Baltimore Ravens last year, per Phil Murphy of ESPN:
Eric Stangel, a former writer for theย Late Show with David Letterman, made light of Schaub's turnover issues Wednesday:
ESPN's Adam Schefter argued why this signing could actually work for both parties involved:
The Falcons obviously won't plan on making Schaub their No. 1 quarterback. Barring an injury to Matt Ryan, the 34-year-old is unlikely to even see the field beyond the preseason. And if Ryan does suffer an injury, then the Falcons will have bigger problems than having to start Schaub.
It's not as if Atlanta needed to break the bank in order to find someone to back up Ryan in the depth chart. He has missed two games since entering the league in 2008. The team now has a Plan B in the event disaster strikes.
