WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Sami Zayn, New Day and More
WrestleMania 32 ruled the WWE rumor mill as reports shed light on what the company has planned for Sami Zayn, The New Day and others at the marquee event.
Zayn emerged on Monday's Raw, his bad blood with Kevin Owens clearly not dissipated yet. Does their brawl in Chicago point to a WrestleMania showdown, or is it just the beginning of Zayn finding himself in a crowded scene for the Intercontinental Championship?
The New Day could be in for a character change at The Show of Shows. And many fans aren't going to like what opponents they are reportedly set to face.

In other stories, Paige may be getting a space on the WrestleMania stage, but it's unclear what lies ahead for Lana. Kalisto looks to be in line for a United States title match at the massive pay-per-view, but not against the man he took the belt from earlier this year.
WrestleMania Plans For Zayn, Owens
NXT fans had to be elated to see Zayn and Owens continue their rivalry on the main roster Monday night. Don't assume, though, that their collision on Raw is an indication of a Zayn vs. Owens matchup at AT&T Stadium.
According to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestle Zone), Zayn vs. Owens is not planned for WrestleMania, at least not in singles competition. The plan is reportedly to have Owens defend in a multiman bout.
Last year, WWE featured the battle for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania with a seven-man ladder match. If that is again the case at WrestleMania 32, it will be a missed opportunity. Owens is the kind of performer one should prioritize and make sure he is properly showcased.
Cramming a number of contenders in the ring with him doesn't do that.
The recent issues with The Miz and Dolph Ziggler could point to them joining that fray along with Zayn and Owens. Big Show banging heads with the champ suggests that he may be a part of this as well.
Keep an eye on the midcarders on the roster in the coming weeks. How WWE books them will be a hint of whether they will indeed be joining Owens and Zayn in the quest for gold.
Another Women's Match at WrestleMania?
As of last week, Becky Lynch vs. Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania is set. That may not be it for the women's division at the event, however.
Paige and Brie Bella look to have something in the works, too. WWE seamstress Julie Youngberg may have leaked the news of those two competing at WrestleMania.
She tweeted, "Had a brainstorming session today @BellaTwins Brie, @RealPaigeWWE and @BeckyLynchWWE are gonna b having their own fight 4 the best dressed diva for mania."
With Lana badmouthing Brie last week and assaulting her on the latest Raw, one would assume that The Ravishing Russian would be in line to take on the former Divas champ. Where Paige would fit into that equation is anyone's guess. WWE has rarely used her on TV of late.
Lana isn't a lock to make WrestleMania, though. According to F4WOnline (h/t Wrestle Zone), there is additional backstage heat on Lana, and she is reportedly not yet ready to be featured in singles action.
Reports of her having backstage issues have been commonplace for months. It's hard to believe that when she's getting to be a part of a feud during WrestleMania season while women like Paige and Natalya are not.
If the company does want to introduce Lana as an in-ring competitor, putting her in a big match with multiple opponents would help mask her inexperience. That could be where Paige comes into the mix.
Kalisto's Challenger
Those tired of seeing Alberto Del Rio take on Kalisto can breathe a sigh of relief. It looks as if The King of Flight is moving on to a new foe.
Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc) reported that Kalisto will defend the U.S. title at WrestleMania, but it won't be against Del Rio.
After Monday's Raw, it looks like Ryback will be taking that spot. The Big Guy mocked the champion in a backstage segment before his match.
Ryback's size and strength would play up Kalisto's underdog status. There is certainly a David-and-Goliath element to that potential clash that fits what WWE has done with the U.S. champ thus far.
Ryback has also been on a roll recently. He's won four straight singles matches, per CageMatch.net. That smells like a push to midcard title contention.
Change Coming for The New Day?
All the insults The League of Nations and The New Day have thrown at each other over the past few weeks look to be adding up to a WrestleMania match. Despite The League of Nations' lack of momentum, they reportedly have a date with the champs come April 3.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t PWMania.com) that WWE plans on having The New Day clash with The League of Nations at WrestleMania, and that the idea is to turn the title-holding trio babyface.
It's unclear how The New Day's antics will work if they aren't allowed to be instigators and jerks anymore. Remember that the group first flopped as fan favorites. Still, it's not hard to imagine WWE readying to make that move.
Big E, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston have become hugely popular over the past year. WWE may be thinking it can best capitalize on that by making them faces. It's just unfortunate that the path to that shift will have to go through the sputtering League of Nations.
