Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch Announced for WWE WrestleMania 32
Three-fourths of the Four Horsewomen will compete at WrestleMania 32 after WWE announced Thursday that Charlotte will defend the WWE Divas Championship against Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks.
Becky and Sasha wrestled this past Monday on Raw to determine a No. 1 contender, but their match finished as a draw, thus necessitating a Triple Threat match at the biggest show of the year on April 3.
They wrestled again on SmackDown, but the match ended in a no-contest after Charlotte interfered. Ultimately, her plan backfired, via WWE:
Sasha reacted to the news:
The three Divas are well-versed with one another from their time in NXT. They, along with Emma, Paige and Bayley, helped elevate women's wrestling in WWE.
The Divas Revolution has been a disappointment after starting with so much promise. Becky, Sasha and Charlotte couldn't have hoped to make a stronger debut on the flagship show in July:
Since then, the momentum has fizzled out after WWE randomly assigned all of the Divas into factions and had them feud in a seemingly never-ending series of tag team matches.
SummerSlam 2015 and NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn offered the perfect juxtaposition. Bayley and Sasha had one of the best matches of 2015 in their battle for the NXT Women's Championship, while SummerSlam featured a forgettable three-team elimination match one night later.
WrestleMania 32 almost feels like WWE hitting the reset button. The South Florida Sun Sentinel's Scott Fishman is looking forward to the pay-per-view:
Nikki Bella had neck surgery in January, and she may not be able to return to the ring. Brie Bella might retire in the summer. If the Bellas don't factor into the long-term picture, then the women's wrestlers groomed in NXT will be the unquestioned queens of the Divas division.
With that in mind, it will be important for Charlotte, Becky and Sasha to put on a show for the fans in Arlington, Texas.
