Yankees' Alex Rodriguez Homers vs. Phillies on 1st Swing of 2016 Spring Training
It took New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez all of one swing this spring to show he is ready to make a run at Babe Ruth's home run total.
Rodriguez made his spring debut Thursday as the Yankees' designated hitter. In the bottom of the first inning, he sent the 1-0 pitch from Philadelphia Phillies southpaw Adam Morgan over the left field wall for a two-run blast.
Just like that, Yankees 2, Phillies 1.

Entering the 2016 season, the 40-year-old Rodriguez sits 27 home runs behind Ruth (714). The 14-time All-Star returned from being suspended for the entire 2014 season to hit 33 dingers last year. If he shows that same type of power again this season, he should pass Ruth in late August or September.
