Professional Cyclist Stig Broeckx Crashes Mid-Race When Hit by Medical Motorbike

Professional cyclists may have to start wearing pads soon.

For the second consecutive year, motor vehicle and racer have collided—most recently, Lotto Soudal’s Stig Broeckx.

While participating in Sunday's Kuurne-Brussels-Kuurne, the 25-year-old crashed, rather ironically, into a medical motorbike.

The impact appears to be the result of the motorbike rider's miscalculation. With Broeckx drifting right of the peloton, the service vehicle may have assumed it could sneak by the Belgian.

Instead, it bumped Broeckx just right, sending him skidding across the asphalt and resulting in some pretty serious injury.

For the sake of Broeckx, hopefully the medical team at least turned around to provide assistance.
