BYU-CSU: Cougars Bounce Back in Convincing, if not Pretty Fashion
I really hate it when BYU gets into their conference schedule because I almost never get to see the game on TV.
Instead I am stuck listening on the Internet, and following the stats online. This was not exactly the statement we needed after getting beat down last week, but at least we won solidly.
Harvey had another good game breaking the hundred yard mark for the first time this season. It is beautiful to see him and Manase working together so well. They are amazing when they are clicking like they can.
Max Hall had a solid game, but he really needs to stop throwing those picks. I appreciate his aggressive nature but many of his picks are not from being aggressive, they are from forcing it. You can be aggressive and smart, or you can force it and get picked.
It is just a dangerous trend that Max has thrown more picks every year and it doesn't seem he will be much better this year. He has thrown as many picks as he has touchdowns and that will just not cut it. I will give Max credit in that he was spreading the ball around much better today. At the half he had thrown seven completions to six different receivers. He did get a little Pitta happy in the second half, but that is understandable because he is a great target.
Our run defense was solid, holding CSU to only 64 yards on the game and most of those were in the second half. Our pass defense was more what I had expected for this season. They likely got tired near the end, but at least they played well enough to win.
This is a game that will work going into the short week with Utah State up next. They shouldn't pose too much trouble and it should be an even better preparation before we travel to Las Vegas the next week.
Go Cougars!
