Bosa Addresses Media at NFL Combine
Friday, Feb. 26
According to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group, the 20-year-old Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native is confident in his place atop the 2016 draft class:
Top-flight prospects often skip certain drills at the combine in favor of doing them at their pro day, but Bosa revealed Friday he will take part in everything at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, per Turron Davenport of USA Today.
Bosa was a dominant force on the edge at Ohio State, especially during his 2014 sophomore season, when he registered 13.5 sacks and 21.5 tackles for loss.
He did that as a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme, which would be his preferred fit at the NFL level as well, according to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun:
Although Bosa's on-field talent is undeniable, he will likely have to answer questions about potential character concerns stemming from being suspended for the Buckeyes' season-opening game against Virginia Tech in 2015.
Bosa was unwilling to reveal the nature of the suspension to the media, per Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports, but he intends to make it a topic of conversation when he meets with teams in Indianapolis:
According to ESPN.com's Austin Ward, Joe Schad reported the suspension was due to either marijuana use or academic issues.
The former national champion and two-time All-Big Ten first-team selection didn't seem at all rattled by the media's tough line of questioning, and he explained why, per Rob Rang of CBS Sports:
Bosa certainly seemed to be comfortable and outgoing, which reminded Patriots.com writer Erik Scalavino of one of the NFL's biggest personalities:
Pass-rushers are at a premium in the NFL because of the high volume of passing on offense, and the argument can be made that Bosa is the top option in that regard in the 2016 draft class.
He racked up 26 career sacks in 38 games for the Buckeyes, and even when he wasn't producing statistically, his penchant for taking on multiple blockers opened up things for his teammates.
Every team in the league could use a force of that nature, and there are plenty of teams within the top 15 that have several holes they would be wise to address.
