Twitter Reacts to Manchester City's Champions League Victory over Dynamo Kiev
In seasons past, Manchester City's track record in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 has been rather Arsenal-esque.
Manuel Pellegrini's men went to Ukraine on Wednesday evening intending to turn around their fortunes—and they may have been buoyed by Dynamo Kiev's relative lack of match practice:

City may have been battling well-rested opposition, but they were playing in bitterly cold conditions:
The fans wrapped up at home, meanwhile, were forced to choose between the game and the Brit Awards:
Despite the elements and the awards-ceremony distractions back home, City probably preferred their eastern European sojourn to their typical knockout-round opponent:
Dynamo had a few early chances to open the scoring, but City drew first blood in the 15th minute via an excellent Sergio Aguero finish:

Five minutes before half-time, City's chances of progressing to the final eight were boosted when David Silva doubled their advantage:
City won plenty of praise for their first-half performance:
Kiev, meanwhile, weren't winning many plaudits for their output:
The reviews Kiev were receiving were only slightly better than those BT Sport commentator Robbie Savage was getting:
Despite looking comfortable after the interval, City conceded just before the hour mark when Vitaliy Buialskyi put the ball in the net via a Nicolas Otamendi deflection:

In the 78th minute, Yaya Toure had a golden chance to bury the tie and make it 3-1:
