Barcelona Score 10,000th Competitive Goal in 2-0 Win over Arsenal
Tom WebbFeb 24, 2016
Barcelona passed a significant landmark in Tuesday's 2-0 UEFA Champions League win over Arsenal, as Lionel Messi's second strike took the Catalans to 10,000 goals in official competition.
The five-figure tally comes from 4,375 matches, giving Barca an impressive average of 2.28 goals a game. Messi is the club's all-time leading scorer with 441, meaning he has scored over 4.39 per cent of their total goals.
But before Messi there was Cesar, Laszlo Kubala and...George Girvan. The Scot scored Barcelona's first-ever goal in a 2-1 defeat to Hispania on 20 January, 1901.
