Liverpool vs. Manchester City: 2016 Capital One Cup Final Starting XIs, Teams

The first piece of major silverware of the English football season will be won on Sunday, as Manchester City and Liverpool do battle in the League Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

City had to scrap in their semi-final tie with Everton to make it this far, recovering from 3-1 down on aggregate to win through 4-3. However, Manuel Pellegrini’s side has been looking a little vulnerable on the domestic front as of late, losing their last three games in England, and having made a trip to Dynamo Kiev in midweek may feel a little jaded. Here’s their XI for the final:

Liverpool were also made to work hard for their spot in the final, overcoming Stoke City on penalties. And while they too had European commitments in midweek, they were at least at home against Augsburg and should be in strong shape ahead of this one. The Reds will have happy memories of facing Manchester City, as they took them apart 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium earlier in the season. Still, City have a core of key players who are well-versed in winning major honours, and you can guarantee their star men will come to the fore again in a major final.
