Matthews Reportedly Signs With Titans

Wednesday, March 9

ESPN.com's Paul Kuharsky reported the Titans were signing Matthews to a three-year deal, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the report.

Matthews Linked to Patriots

Wednesday, March 9

Doug Kyed of NESN.com, citing a source, reported "the [New England Patriots] have expressed interest in [Matthews]."

The Patriots were believed to be "optimistic" they can get a deal done, according to Michael Giardi of CSN New England.

Matthews Could Be an Underrated Signing This Offseason

A rib injury limited Matthews to 11 games in 2015 and ultimately ended his season in January. He still managed to make 43 receptions for 662 yards and four touchdowns. Pro Football Focus graded him the 35th-best receiver in the league.

Illustrating how thin this free-agent market is in terms of wide receivers, though, PFF lists Matthews as the fourth-best available at his position.

NFL.com's Chris Trapasso believes Matthews will be an underrated free-agent addition:

A team could potentially overvalue the 26-year-old. In addition to his injury last year, he has only spent one season as a full-time starting wideout.
