NFL Draft 2016 1st-Round Mock Draft and Potential Trade Scenarios
It is difficult to speculate on trade scenarios in the NFL draft with the event more than two months away, but there are certain players in the draft who would appear to be dynamic fits with certain teams.
When a team senses that player may not be available at its designated spot in the draft, it may be willing to move higher in order to secure the pick. That's usually a costly maneuver in terms of how much it takes to get the draft pick of its choice, but that move may make a team's offseason.
Teams may also be willing to trade down in the draft if they believe the player of their choosing would be available later in the action. That's a move many general managers enjoy making because they get the player of their choice and an additional draft pick (or two).

The Ravens have often had their greatest success when they have been able to put a dominant defense on the field. The Ravens were not bad on defense in 2015, as they ranked eighth in yards allowed, but they did not have a dominant pass-rusher.
Elvis Dumervil led the way with six sacks, and the Ravens would be far more dangerous if they had a double-digit sack artist.
The Ravens have the sixth pick in the draft, and they might have to move up if they want to select defensive end Joey Bosa of Ohio State. Bosa was projected to go as early as second in several of the mock drafts earlier in the offseason, but Rob Rang of CBS Sports has Bosa going fifth to the Jacksonville Jaguars at this point.
If the Ravens want the athletic and dangerous Bosa, they may have to trade up in the draft to get him.
Another player who could be involved in a draft-day trade scenario is UCLA linebacker Myles Jack. While Jack's 2015 season was ruined by injury, he is clearly a high first-round pick because of his overall athletic ability and his potential as a game-changing player.

Rang has Jack getting selected by the Dallas Cowboys with the fourth pick in the draft, and after the Cowboys slipped to 17th in yards allowed last year following an impressive season on that side of the ball in 2014, the selection of Jack seems quite logical.
But Jack is still a gamble because he is coming back from a torn meniscus. The Cowboys may want Jack, but they may find they don't need to spend the fourth pick in the draft to get him. If the Cowboys are confident in their draft acumen and believe they can get Jack with the ninth pick or later, trading down in the draft would make sense.
The Houston Texans have a legitimate need at the most important position, and that was hammered home when they were shut out by the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Wild Card Round.
Brian Hoyer is a hard-working quarterback who earned the starting position in training camp, but head coach Bill O'Brien pulled him in the first game of the season. While Hoyer eventually earned the job back, his inability to put points on the board in the postseason cements Houston's need at the position.

Connor Cook of Michigan State appears to be the next quarterback off the board, according to Rang, and the Texans will have the opportunity to draft him with the No. 22 pick. However, if Carson Wentz, Jared Goff and Paxton Lynch are all selected by the time Philadelphia selects with the No. 13 pick, the Texans could be forced to move up.
They could gamble and possibly get Cook if they stand pat, but what if that gamble fails? They may not get a quarterback who could upgrade their offense and help them win in the postseason, not just get there.
Look for the Texans to trade up in the draft if they see three quarterbacks off the board by the time Philadelphia uses its 13th pick.
