Trabzonspor Player Sent Off for Showing Referee a Red Card

Galatasaray's 2-1 win over Trabzonspor at Turk Telekom Arena on Sunday was marred by chaotic scenes, as the away side finished the game with just seven men.

The drama reached a boiling point in the 87th minute, when Salih Dursun was sent off after picking up a red card and showing it to the referee, who had dropped it in the midst of complaints from the Trabzonspor players.

The incident was reminiscent of one in which Paul Gascoigne received a booking for showing the referee a yellow card during a game between Rangers and Hibernian in 1995.

Durson's harsher punishment can probably be put down to his somewhat more aggressive conduct...especially compared to Gazza's jovial behaviour.
