Man Utd Loanee Nick Powell Forgot to Watch Midtjylland Loss, Was Playing 'FIFA'

Manchester United's Nick Powell hasn't been thinking too much about his parent club, it seems.

The loanee, currently with Championship side Hull City, admitted to Simon Peach of the Press Association that he forgot all about the Red Devils' UEFA Europa League clash against FC Midtjylland on Thursday night.

Powell has been at Old Trafford since 2012 but was loaned out to Wigan Athletic and Leicester City before temporarily joining Hull on deadline day earlier this month.

The 21-year-old, who is preparing for Saturday's FA Cup tie against Arsenal, said that he missed Thursday's match, which Louis van Gaal's side lost 2-1, because he was preoccupied playing FIFA.

It's hardly news that will endear Powell to the Old Trafford faithful, but a few United fans might quietly be wishing they were more like him and missed the trip themselves.

"There's no excuse," said Powell, who presumably caught up with the events in Denmark. "They should have won."
