Alex Ferguson Told MP David Lammy Pochettino Is Premier League's Best Manager

If Mauricio Pochettino was interested in the Manchester United job, he can hardly get a better endorsement than this.

Sir Alex Ferguson believes the Argentinian is the best manager in the Premier League, according to MP David Lammy.

Lammy, who is Labour's representative for Tottenham, told the podcast The Spurs Show (via MailOnline) that the legendary Scottish manager endorsed the Spurs boss when they met at an event late last year.

"I'm going to let you into a secret," he said. "About six weeks ago, I sat next to Sir Alex Ferguson at a dinner in support of grassroots football abroad. He said to me, 'I think you guys have got the best manager in the Premier League.' Alex Ferguson said that."

Forty-three-year-old Pochettino joined the Premier League in 2013 with Southampton and moved to White Hart Lane a year later, where he has turned Tottenham into a title contender.

His name has recently been linked with a move to Old Trafford alongside a certain Jose Mourinho, according to the Sun.

But should Pochettino get carried away by news that he's a favourite of Fergie's, it might be wise to remember what happened the last time the 74-year-old endorsed a candidate for the gig at Old Trafford.
