With the Denver Broncos backed up deep in their own territory early in the second quarter of Super Bowl 50, Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly unleashed the boom on wide receiver Demaryius Thomas to force an incomplete pass.
On 3rd-and-17 from the Denver 13-yard line, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning tried to give his team a little more breathing room by throwing a short pass to Thomas. However, Kuechly popped the wideout immediately, giving him no chance of holding on to the football.
Fortunately for Denver, the ball did not wind up in Carolina's hands. Although the Broncos still had to punt, a turnover deep in their own territory could have been disastrous.
